Co-Conspirator

I am a co-conspirator and I think you might be too.

I feel my most god-self when I am creating. Sometimes I create through painting. Sometimes I create through poetry. It is in those times that I am conspiring with the gods.

I feel my most human-self when I am cultivating and contributing to the culture. At times it comes through service and advocacy. Sometimes it comes through simply engaging in a conversation about culture or elevating a counter-narrative. It is in those times that you will see me conspiring primarily with Black people.

If you are a creator or a cultivator it means that you are responsible for the creation, assembly, cataloging, managing, or the presentation of art and culture. It means that this role is not neutral. If you are active in it you are actively conspiring with some-thing or some-one.

I am a co-conspirator and I think you might be too.

We need, in every community, a group of angelic troublemakers.”
